Taxis and Grab from Changi Airport

Licensed taxis wait at every terminal around the clock, and ride-hailing apps like Grab and Gojek pick up from marked points. Both are the easiest step-out-and-go option with luggage: no advance booking, and the fare is either on the meter or fixed in the app. Expect roughly 20–30 minutes to the city off-peak, and around S$25–45 to most central hotels before surcharges.

Taxis and Grab from Changi Airport — FAQ

How much is a taxi from Changi Airport to the city?
Around S$25–45 on the meter to most central hotels, before surcharges. Leaving the airport a fixed airport surcharge of S$6 is added, rising to S$8 between 17:00 and 23:59 — and note that this one is charged only on trips out of Changi, not on trips to it.
Is there a late-night taxi surcharge?
Yes — 50% of the metered fare between 00:00 and 05:59, so an early-hours arrival costs noticeably more than the same trip by day.
What is the peak-hour taxi surcharge?
25% of the metered fare, and it catches more trips than people expect: Monday to Friday 06:00–09:29, weekends and public holidays 10:00–13:59, and every day 17:00–23:59. On a S$25–45 fare that is S$6–11, so an evening arrival pays both this and the S$8 airport surcharge.
Where do I catch a taxi at Changi?
Licensed taxi queues sit just outside the arrivals halls at every terminal, around the clock — you rarely wait long.
Is Grab available at Changi Airport?
Yes, and it is not the only one: Grab, Gojek, TADA, Ryde, Zig and Geolah all operate here. Book in the app to see an up-front, all-in fare, then walk to the signed ride-hailing pick-up point to meet your driver. Opening two or three apps is worth the minute — the spread between them at odd hours is real money.
Grab or a metered taxi — which is cheaper?
They are usually close. A metered taxi is always queued and ready; Grab locks the price before you ride, which helps at busy times or late at night when the meter surcharge applies. A pre-booked private transfer fixes the price in advance and skips the surcharges entirely.

Fares, surcharges and timings are indicative and were last checked against Changi Airport, the LTA and SMRT in July 2026 — confirm the current figures with the operator before you travel.
