How many terminals does Changi have, and how are they linked?+
Changi has four passenger terminals, T1 to T4. A free Skytrain links T1, T2 and T3; T4 is connected by a free shuttle bus. Jewel, the mall with the Rain Vortex waterfall, is attached to T1.
What's the cheapest way from Changi to the city?+
The MRT. From the Changi Airport station you change at Tanah Merah onto the East-West Line into town, for roughly S$2 with a contactless card. Public buses cost about the same but take longer.
How long does it take to reach the city centre?+
By car or taxi, around 20–30 minutes to Marina Bay or the CBD in normal traffic. By MRT it's about 45–60 minutes with one change at Tanah Merah.
Is there an MRT station at the airport?+
Yes. The Changi Airport MRT station sits under Terminals 2 and 3 on a branch of the East-West Line. Trains run through the day; check the last-train times if you land late.
Should I take a taxi or a Grab from Changi?+
Licensed taxis queue outside every terminal 24/7 and run on a meter plus an airport surcharge. Grab and Gojek are booked in the app from the designated pick-up points. Either way, expect roughly S$25–45 to the city, more late at night.
Can I visit Jewel or leave the airport on a layover?+
Yes. Jewel is landside and open to everyone, so you can see the Rain Vortex between flights. For a longer layover you can clear immigration and head into the city — just leave enough time to return and re-clear security.

Is there a direct bus from Changi Airport to the city?+
Yes — public bus Service 36 runs from the basement bus bays straight into the city, via the East Coast, Suntec and Orchard, for about S$2. It takes close to an hour, so it's the budget choice; the MRT is faster for a similar fare. After about 23:00 the route continues as Service 36A.
How far is Changi Airport from Singapore city centre?+
About 20 km. Changi sits on the east coast, roughly 20–30 minutes from Marina Bay or the CBD by car in normal traffic, or 45–60 minutes on the MRT with one change at Tanah Merah.
Do I need cash to get into the city?+
No. You can tap a contactless bank card or a SimplyGo/EZ-Link card for the MRT and public buses, taxis take cards, and Grab rides and private transfers are paid in the app or pre-booked — so you can reach the city without changing money at the airport.
